Description
Mapacho is a kind of tobacco that is very sacred to various tribes in South America for healing and spiritual cleansing in rituals. The plant has been used for hundreds of years. Almost all Indian tribes use tobacco to offer to spirits during cultivation.
In many rituals, ceremonies and religious observations of the Indians, Mapacho was the unifying thread of communication between humans and spiritual powers. Mapacho also sealed peace treaties between tribes and agreements between individuals. For such purposes, the chief had a special pipe, long and decorated, the so-called “peace pipe”. It is most commonly smoked in cigarillos.
Mapacho is an important shamanic instrument in the Amazon. Used for its entheogenic powers, smoked during ayahuasca ceremonies or mixed in the potion itself. Tobacco was said to be sacred and purifying, and tobacco was often burned to purify and protect, even if it was not inhaled. In some areas of the Amazon rainforest, Mapacho still remains a common component of ayahuasca.
Mapachos are beautiful plants that grow up to two meters in height depending on growing conditions. They have large green leaves and very sweet smelling flowers.
