Description
Ajos sacha (Spanish name meaning “fake garlic”) is widely known in Peru as a medicinal vine that exudes the characteristic smell of garlic. It is not new that it contains some of the chemicals containing aromatic sulfur found in garlic, such as allyl and allyl sulphides.
The root is prepared as a cold maceration. The advantage of the powdered root is that it is not necessary to grind. Using a glass or enamel container, place 9 grams of the powdered root in 2 cups of cold water, cover the container to prevent contaminants and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 2 to 3 days. Before using, pour the liquid through a fine mesh to remove any wood particles. Alternatively, the powdered root can be placed in a fine mesh bag or mesh tea ball before plunging into cold water.
The infusion of cold water is administered in doses of 1 cup 2 or 3 times a day. The above recipe will provide you with about 2 cups. To make a larger supply, simply increase the amounts of powder and cold water accordingly and refrigerate unused portions in a tightly closed container.
